This is the JanSport 42817 lightweight hiking/camping backpack with aluminum frame.
I bought this for my son back in the late '90's for him to use when he went to scout summer camp. He used it two times to carry his gear to the scout camp where he stayed in nice cabins so this was never exposed to the elements.
It is in outstanding condition for its age, no tears, no stains, all the zippers work fine, all straps are in great condition and the aluminum frame is rock solid.
